Mission Profile

The Titan I (HGM-25A) was a two-stage American intercontinental ballistic missile in the Titan family, the first Titan ICBM using liquid oxygen/RP-1 propellants under the Titan ICBM Program. Standing 31.4 m tall with a 3.1 m core diameter and a liftoff mass of 105.1 tonnes, it generated 1,468 kN of liftoff thrust. First flying in February 1959, the Titan I served as America's first two-stage ICBM and was deployed in hardened underground silos from 1962-65 before being retired in favour of the storable-propellant Titan II.
